Derek Provence’s 37-year career in the communications field began while he was in the Army. As the “fiber guy” at ISX, he shares his expertise with younger technicians in the field. He enjoys mentoring them as they develop more advanced capabilities, knowledge, and insights to add to their current skillsets.
Derek works diligently as Field Manager to ensure successful project completion with effective communication, coordination, and technical expertise. Not one for monotony, he thrives on variety and is grateful that each day offers something new and different.
Living in South Minneapolis is an advantage for Derek because he typically drives in the opposite direction of the traffic’s rush hour. And he knows how to relax! His time off in the summer is spent at his cabin up north, and he makes a pretty mean barbecue.
Derek plans to retire in the next few years, and that’s actually the one item left on his bucket list—to retire and not die at work. We admit he has a good sense of humor too!
